Shirley Fassinger, age 87, of E. Sheridan Avenue, New Castle, passed away the evening of December 4, 2016 at her residence. Born in Wampum, PA on November 1, 1929, she was a daughter of Lloyd and Margaret Ault Dripps. On March 24, 1950, she married Richard Fassinger. He preceded her in death in October 2002. A graduate of Wampum High School, she was a homemaker. Shirley enjoyed reading and was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. Survivors include one daughter, Diana Rogers of New Castle; one son, Richard Fassinger of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Beverly Short of New Castle; two grandchildren, Samantha Kilgore and William L. Rogers, II; and four great grandchildren, Brayden Rogers, Taryn Rogers, Mason Kilgore, and Mya Kilgore. Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Dripps; and one brother, Earl Dripps. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1-2 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Weichman of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
