Shirley L. Grieve, 90, of Neshannock Township, passed away the morning of May 6, 2015 at her residence.
Born November 22, 1924 in New Castle, she was a daughter of George L. and Hazel Crum Owens.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John L. Grieve, whom she married June 15, 1946.
A 1942 graduate of New Castle High School, she went on to nursing school at the Jameson School of Nursing where she graduated in 1945 as an R.N. She was in the first class to be cadet nurses during WWII. She later gained employment with Jameson Memorial Hospital for five years.
Shirley loved to keep a beautiful home and enjoyed taking care of her children and the neighborhood children as well.
A former long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church where she helped in the nursery, she later became a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband John, she is survived by a daughter, Susan L. (Robert E.) Churchill of New Castle; two sons, John C. Grieve of Akron, Ohio and Timothy P. (Susan) Grieve of Dallas, TX; one sister, Beverly Wood of Green Bay, WI; four grandchildren, Ian, Laural, Carolyn and Aaron; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In keeping with the wishes of her family, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held for the family with the Rev. Chris Weichman officiating.
