Shirley M. Lockhart, 72, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, passed away the afternoon of September 26, 2013, at Jameson Hospital. Born March 27, 1941 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Robert H. and Ellen A. Stephenson Lockhart. In her earlier years, Shirley was employed with Tanner's Restaurant and PoPo's as a cook, and later with Nepco Plastics. She enjoyed studying voice, singing, and music as well as cooking. She was an active participant in the activities Golden Hill offered. Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church where she had sung in the choir. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Gene Marketich of New Castle; one nephew, Bruce Edgington and his wife Jennifer; an aunt and uncle, Betty and James Stephenson; one great niece; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013, from 2:00-5:00 and Monday, September 30, 2013, from 2:00-3:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held on Monday immediately following visitation at 3:00 and will be officiated by Rev. John Yergan. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
