Shirley D. Welker, age 77 of New Castle, passed away the evening of December 9, 2018, at her residence. Born August 31, 1941, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Harold F. and Althea Mae (Carter) Welker. Shirley was a Shenango High School graduate. She attended Slippery Rock University and The King's College, in New York. She was retired from the Sankey Youth Center where she worked with children. Shirley enjoyed reading, crocheting and painting. She was a member of Grace Bible Church. Shirley is survived by two daughters; Tricia (Richard) Durbin of Warren, Pa., Tracy Fry of New Wilmington, Pa., one brother; Wayne (Rae) F. Welker of Akron, Ohio, one sister; Phyllis Linder of Canton, Ohio, and two grandchildren; Karic and Hadley Fry. Preceding her in death were her parents. Visitation will be held this Thursday, December 13, from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home, immediately following visitation at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Matthew Bupp officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
