Shirley A. Wright, 85, of New Castle, went home to heaven the evening of February 29, 2024.

She was born on October 24, 1938, to the late Voltaire and Evelyn Wilcox Patton.

Mrs. Wright graduated from New Castle High School, at the top of her class, and was later employed by Bell Telephone until she married and became a homemaker and mother.

Shirley will be remembered for her gentle spirit, loving kindness and generous heart.

Her favorite pass time was cooking and baking for her family. She loved to read her cookbooks, searching for new recipes to try out on them. Shirley was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. Mrs. Wright was a women of faith and knew the scriptures well. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene then, Life Changing Ministries.

She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Wright; 2 sons, Roger and Daniel Wright; one sister, Linda (David) Ward; six grandchildren, Jason Wright, Jeremy Iorio, Kellie Moore, Rochelle Miller, Edward and Troy Wright; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in passing by her former husband, Jack Wright.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate.

Burial will be held in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
