Sondra Lee Salmen, age 84, of New Castle, passed away the morning of April 13, 2022, at Quality Life Services – New Castle. Born Sept. 5, 1937, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late James Samuel and Thelma Ruth (Reed) Fowler. She married Richard Samuel Salmen. He survives. Sondra was a 1955 graduate of New Castle High School. For several years, she was employed as an administrative assistant. Sondra enjoyed reading, baking and crafts. Sondra was in women's bowling leagues at Parkstown & Colonial Lanes for many years and also had enjoyed card club with a special group of friends. What gave her the most joy in life, was spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Sondra is survived by three daughters, Kim Beckley of Warren, OH, Patty (Todd) Conrad of New Castle, PA, Melissa Ward (Michael Accord) of FL; one stepdaughter, Karen (Wade) Smith of Cincinnati, OH; two stepsons, David (Marsha) Salmen of New Castle, PA, and Matthew (Teresa) Salmen of KY; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and former spouse David (Carolyn) Leeper of New Castle, PA. Along with her parents, Sondra was preceded in death by one sister Linda Quear. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
