Obituary

Stanley P. Watkins, Jr., age 85, of Shenango Township went to be with his Lord and Savior the afternoon of December 27, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Born in New Castle on August 16, 1931, he was a son of Stanley P. Watkins, Sr. and Alma Crum Watkins. On December 3, 1954 he married the former Margaret M. Crowley, who survives him at home. Stanley was a 1949 graduate of Shenango High School. He served in the US Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict. In 1982, he retired from Rockwell Spring Works after 32 years of service. He was also a self employed mechanic and owner of Stan Watkins Auto Service and Stan Watkins Excavating. First and foremost in Stanley's life was his family. His other greatest joy was sharing his love of the Lord to anyone who entered his garage. As a lifelong member of First Alliance Church, he formerly served as a trustee. Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Michelle Morelli and her husband, Richard, of West Middlesex and Lisa Watkins of New Castle; three sons, David Watkins, Brian Watkins and his wife, Pam, and Shawn Watkins and his fiance, Susan Smith, all of New Castle; one brother, William (Joyce) Watkins of New Castle; a brother-in-law, Ronald Hudach of New Castle; ten grandchildren, Stanley Watkins, IV, Julie Kneram, Jason Watkins, Ashley (Robert) DiBuono, Jeffrey Kneram, Kyley (Bryan) Shaffer, Christine Morelli, Kelly (Joel) Galloway, Brian Watkins, Jr. and Briana Watkins; twelve great grandchildren; and his best friend, Bill Bessell. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stanley Watkins, III; one daughter, Denise Watkins; one grandson, Dylan Watkins; and a sister, Nancy Hudach. Visitation will be held from 4-8 on Thursday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive, New Castle with Rev. Philip Harrison and Rev. Joe Lahr officiating. A full military service will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Stanley's name to First Alliance Church.
