Obituary

Stella V. "Shirley" Capitola, 98, formerly of Pin Oak Drive, passed away the morning of November 22, 2013 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born May 10, 1915 in Aliquippa, Pa., she was a daughter of Joseph F. and Victoria Smialowski Boron. Shirley was preceded in death in October, 1987 by Charles V. Capitola, whom she married November 22, 1941. She attended Union High School and was briefly employed at Johnson Bronze Company before becoming a homemaker. Shirley enjoyed singing and dancing, and was a member of Mary Mother of Hope. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Wrona of Volant, Linda Wilson of Struthers, Ohio, and Sherry Hankey of New Castle; two sons, Charles J. Capitola and Thomas Capitola, both of New Castle; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 7 sisters, Sr. M. Consolata, Rose Snizek, Mary Beatrice, Anna Herbut, Sophie Boron, Helen Messersmith, and Frances Kucharski; and 4 brothers, Stanley, Frank, Joseph, and Walter Boron. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, for Mary Mother of Hope, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
