Sydney W. Paul, 73, of Neshannock Township, passed away the afternoon of January 6, 2018 at his residence.
Born August 4, 1944 in Butler, PA he was the son of William T. and Dorothy Myers Paul. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Irwin Paul, whom he married December 2, 1972.
A Westminster College graduate, Sydney went on to obtain his Law Degree and Masters Degree in social work at the University of Pittsburgh.
He served his country from 1966-1969 during the Vietnam War as a U.S. Marine.
Syd was an independent Attorney, who also worked for the Lawrence County Human Services until his retirement.
He held memberships with the New Castle Jaycees, the Masonic Lodge and Shrine, and was the Commander of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He enjoyed extensive travel, especially the opportunity to travel abroad.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Al Roe of Fredericksburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Gretchen I. Bacco and her husband Barry of Monroeville, PA; two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Andrew Jillson officiating.
Burial will be in Apollo Cemetery.
