Sylvia M. Sinkovich, 91, formerly of New Wilmington, passed away the morning of June 26, 2021, at Nugent Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Hermitage.
Born October 28, 1929, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Carl and Helen (McCreary) Shellenberger and stepdaughter of Mildred Shellenberger.
Sylvia attended the Wilmington Area schools and worked in various restaurants. She was employed with the former Morgan's Restaurant in New Castle and their Hermitage location in 1980 until her retirement. She was also a care giver.
She enjoyed working with flowers. When she was younger, she would sing in the choir at church. Her greatest love was her family and the times spent with them. She was a member of the Nashua Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Edinburg.
She is survived by four sons, David (Linda) Sinkovich of Edinburg, Larry (Joan) Sinkovich and Stephen (Toni) Sinkovich of Pulaski, and Joseph (Renee) Sinkovich of Mills River, NC; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, she was preceded in death by two sons, James and Thomas Sinkovich; one grandson, Robert Sinkovich; three sisters, Jean Barr, Doris Moon, and Marilyn Edeburn; two brothers, Thomas and Donald Shellenberger; and her former husband.
Visitation will be held on Tues. June 29th from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Wed. June 30th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Pastor Warren Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be in Fair Oaks Cemetery.
