Theda G. Hennon, age 96, went home to be with her heavenly Father August 17, 2015. Formerly of New Castle, she was a resident of Amherst Meadow Care Facility in Massillon, Ohio for the past five years. Theda was born August 13, 1919 in Ellwood City, Pa., to Alfred J. and Bertha Wiley Gooch who preceded her in death. A graduate of New Castle High School and Slippery Rock State College, Theda married C. Arthur Hennon in 1942, with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage until his passing in 2005. She was a life-long member of Hoover Heights Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in New Castle where she taught Sunday school, played the church organ and served on the board. Theda was a second grade teacher for the Neshannock School District for 40 years, retiring in 1979. She loved her Lord, her church,and her family. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Alfred G. and Susan Hennon of Massillon, Ohi; 4 grandchildren, Chad and Megan Hennon of Massillon, Daniel Hennon of Akron, and Lindsey Hennon of Massillon; and 2 great-grandsons, Dylan and Mason Hennon of Massillon. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. The family wishes to express our thanks to all who visited, sent cards and called after her move to Massillon. It brightened her day. We also wish to thank all of those at Amherst Meadows for the loving care she received. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, immediately following visitation, at 11:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Llewellyn officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens Mausoleum.
