Thelma Jane Hall, 89, formerly of New Castle, entered her heavenly home into the arms of her Savior, the morning of April 19, 2019, at Concordia of Franklin Park in Sewickley, PA.
Born January 23, 1930, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Ray and Lillian (Gardner) Hilyard.
She was preceded in death on December 7, 2002 by her husband of 43 years, John F. Hall, Sr., whom she married August 28, 1959.
Thelma was a 1949 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a homemaker as well as a bookkeeper for Manufacter's Light and Heat Company. She loved bowling, being a den mother for the Cub Scouts, and was a member of the Sparkler's. She was a member of First Alliance where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, worked in the nursery, was a Deaconess and was the secretary for the young people's group. Thelma took pride in taking care of her home, family and extended family. She loved showing hospitality to all visitors that entered her home. One of her greatest joys was being a Nana to her three grandsons.
Thelma's family would like to thank Concordia of Franklin Park and Good Samaritan Hospice for their tremendous care of Thelma. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
She is survived by one daughter, Janie L. (Jim) Tusar of Poland, Ohio; one son, Tim (Tammy) Hall of New Castle; one daughter-in-law, Miriam Hall of New Castle; three brothers, David (Anna) Hilyard of Elizabethtown, PA, Dwight Hilyard of New Castle, Daniel (Lisa) Hilyard of New Wilmington; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Hilyard of New Castle; three grandchildren, Tim, Noah and Jacob Hall, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John F. Hall, Jr. in 2017; two brothers, Curtis and Charles Hilyard; two sisters, Barbara Rees and Lois Fiello; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Hall and three brothers-in-law, Charles Rees, Pat Fiello and Marion Hall.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 23rd from 4:00-7:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle and from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday April 24th at First Alliance Church 111 Mission Meade Dr., New Castle, PA. 16105.
A funeral service will take place, after visitation, on Wednesday April 24th at 11:00 AM, at First Alliance Church, with Rev. Philip Harrison, officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.
