Thelma M. Hughes, 95, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 26, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home.Born February 15, 1919 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Charles Lester and Ruth Etta Glass Brown.Thelma married Walter "Skees" Hughes June 29, 1939. He preceded her in death February 28, 1999.She was employed by the New Castle Area School District in the cafeteria.Thelma enjoyed bowling and belonged to the 600 Club Bowling, loved bingo, cards but most of all the time she spent with her family.She was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church.Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Edie of New Castle; two sons, Charles Hughes of Dixon, IL, and Paul Hughes of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Walter "Bud" Brown and Russell W. Brown; and son-in-law, Robert Edie.Visitation will be Friday, March 28, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev.
