Thomas J. Buckner, age 60, of New Castle, passed away the evening of May 1, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born Feb. 4, 1964, in New Castle, he was the son of John B. Buckner and the late Barbara (Seltzer) Buckner who preceded him in death on May 28, 2019.

Tom was a 1982 graduate of Lawrence County Vo-Tech. He worked as a first responder, employed by the PA Turnpike Commission, for 26 years. He was a member of the Castle Pistol Club and enjoyed competitive shooting. He was a Master Mason and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family at their camp.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, John B. (Bethany) Buckner and Carter (Joy) both of New Castle, PA; three nieces, Ellen Buckner, Amber Jennings, and Emma Buckner; two nephews, Ian (Katie) Buckner and Owen Buckner; and five great nieces, Ellie, Lily, Charlotte, Lily, and Lyza.

Visitation will be held on Tues. May 7th from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A Memorial service will take place, at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Damian Williams.
