Thomas David Watkins, 77, of New Castle, PA, passed away, March 6th 2022. He was born in New Castle, January 6th 1945 to William and Evelyn (Cartwright) Watkins. Tom graduated from New Castle High School in 1963. He was married to Kristina (Rispoli) Watkins since 1998. Tom proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Enterprise and told many stories about sailing around the world. He worked for the New Castle Transit Authority as a driver, mechanic, and foreman for many years. He was an avid reader of American history, and enjoyed fishing with his kids, classic cars, and projects around his house. He had a great sense of humor and always made friends everywhere he went. He was a lifelong member of Highland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Thomas and Terri Watkins of Knoxville, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Michael Strickler of New Castle, a daughter and daughter-in-law, Krystal Watkins and Kera Collinson of New Castle, a daughter and son-in law, Melissa and Charles Huffman of New Castle; his former spouse Bobbi Beach; two granddaughters, Mikalyn Strickler and Lauren Watkins; one grandson, Alex Huffman; one brother, Richard Watkins of New Castle; and sister Deborah Duvall of Oklahoma. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Roberta Victoria Watkins. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately after the visitation Friday at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Kinney officiating. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. The family suggest that memorials may be made to the VFW, 1820 E.
