Timothy L.
Marti
Dec 21, 1956 — Dec 17, 2023
Timothy Lee Marti, 66 of Neshannock Township, New Castle, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Dec. 17, 2023. He fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Tim was born Dec. 21, 1956 in New Castle to the late Jacobo "Jack" Marti and Mary Jane "Jane" Young Marti. He was married for 46 years to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Suzanne Litzenberg Marti of Volant, PA.
Tim graduated from Wilmington Area High School in 1976.
He proudly worked beside his father, Jack, for many years at the family-owned cheese business, Farmers Cheese Co-Op. Tim spent countless hours working mostly nights during the week, weekends, and most holidays supporting the family business. Tim also graduated from taxidermy school and operated a small business.
Tim enjoyed hunting, hiking, foraging, and exploring the great outdoors. He spent much of his spare time fishing and boating with Sue and friends and teaching his grandkids and extended family how to fish. Tim and Sue fished everywhere, from Key West, FL to Canada. He spoke fondly of hunting on a particular trip to Nova Scotia with friends. Tim most enjoyed fishing with his son, Josh, and his family, and boating with his daughter, Chelsea, and her family. He also shared wonderful memories of fishing with his father-in-law, Tom Litzenberg.
Tim enjoyed maintaining his home and lawn and loved DIY projects. Literally no overgrown lawn was safe with Tim in the vicinity. He loved 'talking shop' with his neighbor and good friend, Scott Veri.
Tim and his brothers were Eagle Scouts. He spoke fondly of the many camping and hiking trips he'd taken with the Scouts, and especially of sharing the exciting times out West in Cimarron, New Mexico with his fellow Scouts.
Tim had an amazing sense of humor and was always entertaining us, making jokes, and making the crowd laugh. Tim had a huge heart and was a truly generous soul. He was always ready to lend a hand, to anyone—and be the life of a party, anytime.
Tim and Sue loved traveling and especially enjoyed going locally to Pittsburgh to Chelsea and Jade's house, and visiting Josh and Emily in California. He enjoyed trips to Switzerland growing up to visit his paternal grandmother.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents. Tim leaves behind his wife Sue Litzenberg Marti, and two children and their families: Chelsea (Jade) and Josh (Emily), and also leaves behind his three grandchildren, Nola, Easton, and Maren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his siblings, brothers James (Mary Kay), Jack (Gerri), Rick (Lori), and sister Debbie (Dan) Kennedy.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Wednesday at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. on Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA with a service to follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Chaplain Claire Megles of Gentiva Hospice will officiate.
The family is requesting any memorial contributions be made to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. We are so grateful for the excellent care and support from Dr. Laubenthal and the wonderful, caring staff at Hillman Cancer Center in New Castle.
