Tonino DelPinto, 95, of Avalon Nursing Center, passed away the afternoon of April 16, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born February 1, 1923 in Anversa, Italy, he was the son of Pasquale DelPinto and Immaculata Grossi DelPinto.
He was preceded in death on May 15, 1999 by his wife of 50 years, Domenica Rosa DelPinto whom he married on April 24, 1949.
Tonino was a member of the Italian Army from 1942-1944 during WWII as a Private.
While still living in Italy, Mr. DelPinto was a police officer and detective for 6 years in Rome and Genoa Italy. When he and his wife came to the United States he began his employment with Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a steelworker for 23 years until his retirement in 1977.
Among his interests, Tonino enjoyed gardening. He was a member of Bridge of Hope Church in Boardman, Ohio.
He is survived by one son and his wife, Nicholas and Patricia DelPinto of New Castle.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard, Jerry and Ernest DelPinto.
There will be a one hour visitation on Thursday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at 7:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Pastor Graham Cathers will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
