Travis W. Garrett, age 40, of New Castle, passed away the morning of August 7, 2020, at his residence. Born August 27, 1979, in New Castle, he was the son of the late William Garrett and Margaret (McFarland) Garrett Ward, who survives at home. Travis attended Laurel High School. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and riding his jet ski, but what gave Travis the most joy in life was spending time with his family. In addition to his mother, Travis is survived by his stepfather, John Ward of New Castle; two sisters, Blythe (Tim) Zimmerman and Stacey (Mark) Basinger, both of New Castle; two half-sisters, Barbara Best of Ellijay, Georgia, and Michelle Garrett of New Castle; two stepsisters, Kayla Ward and Kari Ward, both of New Castle; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his father, Travis is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, two nephews and one aunt. In keeping with his wishes, there will be private services held for his family.
