V. Juanita Gunther, 95, of New Castle, passed away August 9, 2017 at Golden Hill Nursing Center. Born May 24, 1922 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Emlyn and Sarah Jones Lewis. She married Edward A. Gunther on September 19, 1946 who preceded her in death on April 6, 2006. Juanita was a childrens clothes designer for Nantucket Design for Children and also worked for Viviennes Antiques. She was a member of SAGA, the Smocking Arts Guild of America, enjoying the art of English Smocking. She taught her skill of smocking at the Quilting Bee in New Wilmington. Prior to attending St. Johns Lutheran Church she attended Christ Lutheran Church. She is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Robert) McHattie of New Castle; and one grandchild, Zane McHattie and spouse, Andreena Harriman. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00a.m.to 1:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 1:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Glenn Crytzer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
