Mrs. Velma I. (Crowe) Merryman, a resident of a private nursing home in Pittsburgh and formerly of New Castle, PA , passed away Friday, October 21, 2011, in the nursing home. Velma has been in Pittsburgh for the last 7 years near her son and daughte-in-law.Born June 12, 1919 in Masontown, PA, she was the daughter of the Orville and Violet Crowe. Mrs. Merryman was a graduate of German Township High School, Fayette Co. PA. She and her husband the late Galen Merryman were married in 1940. Mr Merryman died July 5th 1966. Mrs. Merryman owned Merryman's Automatic Car Wash in New Castle for many years and also was an employee of First Federal of New Castle.She is survived by one son, O'Dell Merryman of Pittsurgh, PA and daughter-in-law Marcia Merryman; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Romesburg, and Alice Rembold of Springs, PA and a number of nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Sunday, Oct 23, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. The Rev. John Yergan will officiate.
