Vera Jane McCart, age 82, of Clover, South Carolina, formerly of New Castle, passed away December 13, 2022, at her son's residence in South Carolina.

Born July 22, 1940, in New Castle, she was the daughter of James and Dorothy (Knight) Fobes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George "Bud" E. McCart, on November 13, 2020.

Vera enjoyed being a homemaker, taking care of her family. She was a member of Wayside Emmanuel Church in New Castle.

She is survived by her a daughter, Kay (Ben) Portner of Texas; one son, Steven E. (Jayne) McCart, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, Josh (Sarah) McCart and Amber (Garett) Skidmore; and two great-grandchildren, Ben McCart and Lila McCart.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 16, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Bryan Warner officiating.

Vera will be laid to rest beside her husband in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
