Vera Mae Ramsey, 90, formerly of Moody Avenue, passed away the morning of October 6, 2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home.Born December 17, 1923 in Wampum, she was a daughter of Samuel and Mae Tindall Tanner.She was preceded in death on January 23, 2003 by her husband of 52 years, George L. Ramsey, whom she married July 12, 1950.Vera was employed as a secretary with Lawrence County Vo-Tech and with Shenango High School.She was a member of Savannah United Methodist Church where she also sang in the choir.In addition to writing and reading, Vera enjoyed singing and was a member of the Good News singing group.She is survived by two daughters, Rachel Pascarella of Portersville, and Roberta Callahan of Derry, Pa; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mariea McCann, Sara St. John, and Margaret Tanner.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The service will be officiated by Francis Callahan, Mrs. Ramsey's son-in-law.Her family would like to thank Golden Hill Nursing Home for the care Vera received while a resident there.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the City Rescue Mission, 319 S.
