Violet M. King, age 90 of Shenango Township, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 4:20 pm on Monday afternoon, August 3, 2020, at Jameson Care Center, following a brief illness. Born Sept. 24, 1929, in Cross Creek, Washington County, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Mary E. (Medlen) Myers. On Nov. 25, 1946, she married her beloved husband, John King. He preceded her in death in 1996. Violet was a school bus driver and worked at Reliable Luggage. She loved golfing and bowling and did so with her friends, until just recently. She volunteered at Jameson hospital sewing, for years, which benefited many patients. Violet was an active member of Savannah Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and participated in serving monthly breakfasts, for many years. She was also active and helped with the 55 and over group and was also a member of the Methodist Woman's group. She had many good friends she met through church and countless after church lunches, which she enjoyed immensely and meant a lot to her. Violet was loved, and will be missed, very much by her family, friends and extended family who appreciated her as the kind and loving person she was. Violet is survived by one son, Edwin King, and his wife Janet, of Wampum, PA; her grandson, whom she was very close with, Shawn King and his wife Krissie; 4 additional grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Violet is preceded in death by one son, John Jr., her daughter, Linda George and one great granddaughter, Jessie. A private graveside service and burial will be held for the family at Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
