Virginia E. Thomas, age 88 of New Castle, passed away the morning of October 21, 2019 at her residence.
Born Feb. 24, 1931 in New Castle, she was the daughter of James W. and Ethel (Coulter) Street. She married her beloved husband, Wendell P. Thomas on September 12, 1958. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2014.
A graduate of Ellwood City High School, Virginia worked as an accounting clerk at Johnson Bronze for 10 years where she met her husband.
In addition to being an avid reader, Virginia enjoyed crocheting and travel. Together with her husband Wendell, they travelled to 49 states and 50 countries.
She was a member of First Alliance Church where she was involved in the Alliance Women Missions and taught Sunday school for 50 years. Virginia gave her life to Christ at an early age and now resides with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda V. (Glenn) Wilson and Miriam K. Hall all of New Castle and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother James C. Street and a son-in-law, John F. Hall.
Visitation will be held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle on Thursday, October 24, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:30-11:30 at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive.
A funeral service will take place at First Alliance Church on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Philip Harrison officiating.
Burial will be beside her husband in Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle.
