Obituary

Virginia E. Walters, 90, of Howard Drive, New Castle, passed away the night of May 15, 2013 at her residence. Born August 12, 1922 in Harlansburg, she was a daughter of John T. and Thelma Mae Badger Lee. She was preceded in death on June 5, 1994 by her husband, Charles R. Walters, whom she married April 12, 1943. Virginia worked in the cafeteria for the Union Area School District and was a homemaker. She was a member of Wimodausis, Eastern Star, a past Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine Martha #14, the Rainbow Girls Assembly #1 of New Castle, and Amaranth. Virginia was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she attended the Life After 55 group. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Steele, of New Castle; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard F. Walters, Sr., and Dale R. Walters; one daughter, Lois Lee Walters; and one brother, John T. Lee, Jr. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Barbara Moore. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Order of Amaranth, with checks payable to Farrell Court #120 Diabetic Scholarship, c/o Mrs. Bonnie Long, 504 Donatation Rd., Greenville, PA 16125
