Vivian Solomon, 100, of New Castle, passed away the evening of November 19, 2011, at the Golden Hill Nursing Home.Vivian was born May 9, 1911 in Pittsburgh, to the late Max and Tillie Schlossberg Narvolansky. She was married to Albert Solomon, whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Solomon work for 10 years, before retiring, as a sales clerk at Saks 5th Avenue in Pittsburgh. Vivian was also named commander of the Pittsburgh Auxiliary Police during the war. She was a member of Temple Hadar Israel.Mrs. Solomon is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis & Martin Schwartz of New Castle; one brother, Aaron Narvol of Pittsburgh; one grandson, and his wife, Stewart and Regina Schwartz; and two great grandchildren and their spouses, Abby and Josh Boyd and Ben and Sara Cripps.Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Ira Solomon; one brother, William Narvol; one sister, Bessie Narvolansky and one granddaughter, Terry Woodside.A private graveside service will be held at a later date.Arrangements are being handled by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd., New Castle.
