Wayne H. Cox, 84, of Hickory Township, passed away the morning of July 18, 2021, at Quality Life Services (formerly Golden Hill Nursing Home) in New Castle. Born April 26, 1937, in New Castle, he was the son of J. Herbert and Ruth (Maxwell) Cox. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Norma Jean (Hockenberry) Cox, whom he married June 3, 1960. A graduate of Eastbrook High School, Wayne was employed with Bell Telephone/Verizon for 36 years until he retired to farm, which he enjoyed the most. He was also the owner of Hickory Wood Stoves for over 30 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Daniel (Wendy) Cox and Darrell Cox, both of New Castle; one grandson, Daniel Cox; two step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
