Wayne A. Heckathorn, age 70, passed away the morning of November 17, 2018, at UPMC, ICU Center, in Pittsburgh. Born on February 19, 1948, in New Castle, he was the son to Glenn and Irene (Styers) Heckathorn. Mr. Heckathorn was a 1967 Shenango High School Graduate. He worked as a sand blaster at Youngstown Hard Chrome. Wayne was involved with various divorce care, support groups, all over New Castle. He loved to fish, watch his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins, writing, poetry and sewing. What gave Wayne the most joy in life was his granddaughter, Hayden Jade Heckathorn. Wayne attended New Covenant Church. He is survived by a son; Derek Heckathorn, of New Castle, a brother; Jerry (Karen) Heckathorn of Calabash North Carolina, and one granddaughter Hayden Jade Heckathorn. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Glenna McGuire and Judy. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A memorial service, at the funeral home will immediately follow, at Noon. Pastor Chris Curtis, of New Covenant, will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the R.
