Wayne E. McCormick, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, faithful servant of Christ, and beloved patriarch, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on the morning of July 26, 2025, at the age of 89. Known for his gentle heart and steadfast love, Wayne was a rock for his family and a shining example of faith and grace.

Wayne was born November 20, 1935, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Margaret (McCormick) Brooks, and was lovingly raised by Elder and Sara McCormick, whose care and guidance helped shape the man of deep character and strong faith he became.

On February 11, 1956, Wayne married his best friend and the love of his life, Janet (Lutz) McCormick. They shared 69 years together, a marriage grounded in love, commitment, and unwavering trust in the Lord.

Wayne was a loving father to three children: Rodney W. McCormick of New Castle, Tammy (Roger) Cunningham of New Castle, and Leann Wente of New Bremen, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to Kaycee (Tim) Aubel, Jenna (Jordan) Flaim, Brittany (JT) Taylor, Chris (Charity) Wente, Amanda (DJ) Bolinger, Nicolette (Luke) O'Hara, Rob (Taylor) Wente, Shelby (Alex) McCullough, and Dylan Wente. He was also joyfully blessed with 14 great-grandchildren, Trenton, Avonlea, Colton, Easton, Linya, Irelyn, Ruby, Everly, Carter, Jordy, Barrett, Nora, Macklen, and Leila. He called them the true joys of his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Ralph (Patty) Brooks of New Castle and Jim (Betsy) Brooks of Lebanon, PA.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Kerr) McCormick, and his sister, Joyce (Brooks) Sewruk.

Wayne worked faithfully and diligently throughout his life, including 38 years as a machinist at Flowline, and as an independent carpet installer. In his later years, he found great joy serving as a maintenance worker at First Baptist Church, where he was also a lifelong member.

A passionate woodworker, Wayne was an active member of the Workers of Wood group at First Baptist Church. He gifted countless handmade projects to loved ones, each piece crafted with love and care, a lasting symbol of his generosity and creativity.

A New Castle High School graduate, Wayne was always in the crowd with unmatched dedication cheering on the Red Hurricanes basketball and football teams and the Lady Lancers basketball team whether it was a big playoff run or a regular season matchup.

Wayne's life was a testimony to God's grace and goodness. He loved deeply, served faithfully, and lived honorably. His quiet strength, generous heart, and Christlike character left a lasting impression on everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.

Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice knowing our Pappy is now home with his Savior, embraced in perfect peace and welcomed with the words "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A one-hour visitation will also take place from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle prior to the 11:00 service. Pastors Mike Willmer and Scott Frederick will be officiating.
