Wayne Slater, age 57, of New Castle, passed away the evening of June 15, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Slater was born on February 5, 1961, in New Castle, to the late Wayne C. Slater and Maureen Schafer. He married Patricia Jordan Slater on February 14, 1985. Wayne was a driver for UPS for 31 years and served his country as a member of the US Army. He was a loyal friend to all and was quick to serve as a "handyman" to anyone that needed a helping hand. Wayne was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his wife, mother and step-father, Doug Schafer, Mr. Slater was survived by his 2 daughters, Lauren Slater and Roxane Corbisello, both of New Castle; one sister, Kristen Gipe, of Red Line, PA; one nephew, Zachary Pangels and one grandson, Paxton Sanders. Wayne was preceded in passing by his father and his maternal and paternal grandparents. In keeping with Wayne's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Lawrence County United Way, 223 North Mercer St., New Castle, PA 16101.
