Wilbert S. Mitchell, Sr., age 83, of New Wilmington, passed away the morning of January 5, 2022, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born February 22, 1938, in New Castle, he was the son of Robert A. Mitchell, Sr. and Alberta M. (Sadler) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell served his country in the US Air Force from 1956-1958. He was a self-employed truck driver for 42 years until his retirement. He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly S. Mitchell of New Wilmington, PA; two sons, Wilbert S. Mitchell, Jr. of New Castle, PA and Jeffrey A. Mitchell of Hermitage, PA; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara D. (Swiger) Mitchell, two brothers William Mitchell and Robert A. Mitchell Jr. and one granddaughter, Christy Lynn Mitchell. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, from 1:00-3:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, with a service immediately following at 3:00. Wilbert's nephew, Ed Mitchell will officiate.
