William R. Barckley, 74, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of March 17, 2015 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born August 26, 1940 in New Castle, he was a son of Charles and Ethel Fox Barckley. Surviving at home is his wife of 51 years, Ruth Hazen Barckley, whom he married October 5, 1963. A 1960 graduate of New Castle High School, he then served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Barckley was a linesman for G.M. Lordstown for over 33 years. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Steelers, he also loved listening to music and the outdoors. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Barckley attended New Life Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Barckley of New Castle, and Brian Barckley and his wife Amber of South Williamsport, PA; one brother-in-law, Paul Hazen of Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Esther (Donald) Cameron and Joyce (Frank) Kolter, both of Michigan; and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Blake Barckley. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Pastor John Bailey of New Life Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
