William M. Burdett, 103, of Golden Hill Nursing Home, formerly of Rose Ave., passed away the evening of May 21, 2014 at Golden Hill.Born February 26, 1911 in New Castle, he was the son of Ross A. and Myrtle Mae Dobson Burdett.William married Dorothy J. Neyman Burdett June 12, 1935. She passed away April 29, 2010.A meat cutter at Loccisano's Market in Ellwood City, he retired in 1987 after 34 years.William was a life time member of Eagles #455 and was an avid local bowler until he was 98.Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry T. and Delores Burdett of Carlisle; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Burdett of New Castle; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Donald W. Burdett; and three sisters, Ruth Burdett, Opal McKissick and Dorothy I. Cole.Visitation will be 3-6 p.m.on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the funeral home. The Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate.Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
