William Wayne Clark, 93, of St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, Columbiana, OH, formerly of New Castle, passed away the night of May 16, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Wellness Center in Youngstown, OH.Born February 5, 1921, in East Palestine, OH, he was the son of Charles and Lucille Raeder Clark.Wayne married Dorothy M. Whitehouse Clark in 1950. She passed away April 24, 1990.A graduate of East Palestine High School, Wayne went on to flight school and was an instructor and Captain for the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II.Wayne retired from the U. S. Government where he was a mine inspector. He also was a superintendent at Ambrosia Coal Company after he owned and operated his own coal company, Clark Coal Company.He enjoyed flying, golf, liked Ohio State and Cincinnati Bengals football, and racing sprint cars.Wayne was a member of the New Castle Elks.He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William W. and Laura Clark of Poland, OH, and Robert E. and Roxanne Clark of Mt. Jackson, PA; and six grandchildren, Michael, Doreen, Courtney, Kelly, Kristin and Ava.In addition to his parents, and wife, Wayne was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Garrod; and a granddaughter, Angela Marie Clark.Visitation will be Tuesday for 5-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road., New Castle, PA.A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and officiated by Thomas Lesko.Burial will be in East Palestine Cemetery.
