William "Bill" Dunkle, 68, of Sunbury, Ohio passed away on Wednesday morning, May 3rd, 2023, at Country View Nursing Home. Bill was born November 5, 1954, in New Castle, a son of Bill and Sarah (Kennedy) Dunkle. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1973. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Bill was honorably discharged in 1977, at the rank of sergeant, following four years of active duty.

Bill continued serving others as a firefighter at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio where he retired after years of faithful service. Bill enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time at the shooting range, and listening to and playing music. Bill also enjoyed tinkering with model trains and computers.

Bill is survived by his mother, Sarah (Kennedy) Dunkle, brothers, Edward (June) and Jeffrey (Audrey) Dunkle; and sister, Sally (Gary) Coates; two children, Neashall (Josh) Daugherty and Michael Dunkle; nine grandchildren, Cayla Daugherty, Braeden Dunkle, Alexis Daugherty, Evie Dunkle, Elijah Daugherty, Levi Daugherty, Samantha Daugherty, Jase Daugherty, and Sawyer Daugherty. Bill is preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Dunkle.

The family wishes to thank all of the caring and thoughtful staff of Country View Nursing Home in Sunbury, Ohio who helped them and gave Bill such great care throughout his illness. Bill always called New Castle, PA home and will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery on Friday, May 12th during a small family gathering. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will render full military rights.
