William E. Dunkle, 92, of New Castle, passed away the evening of April 25, 2020 at Quality Life Services-New Castle.
Born October 31, 1927 in New Castle, he was the son of Joseph W. and Margaret Helen (Davis) Dunkle.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sarah D. (Kennedy) Dunkle, whom he married September 26, 1953.
Mr. Dunkle attended Clen Moore School and later served his country in the US Army during WWII as a PFC from 1946-1947.
Bill was employed with B & O Railroad as a conductor for 30 years until his retirement in 1989. He also had worked as a machine operator with Mesta Machine and a school bus driver for the Neshannock Township Schools.
He was a lifetime member of the Neshannock Township Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Bill loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and traveling, and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sally (Gary) Coates of Greenville, PA; three sons, Bill Dunkle of New Castle, Edward W. (June) Dunkle of Plano, Texas, and Jeffrey L. (Audrey) Dunkle of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Donald A. Dunkle of Coconut Creek, Florida; one sister, Darlene Cochran of Los Gatos, CA; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert J. Dunkle; and two sisters, Dorothy French and Janet Stolling.
Due to the unfortunate health crisis within our country, there will be no services at this time.
Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery.
