William C. "Bill" Hedland, Jr., 45, of 191 Springdale Acres Lane, Pulaski, passed away the afternoon of June 21, 2011 in Jameson Hospital.Born July 5, 1965 in New Castle, PA, he was a son of William C. Hedland who preceded him in death, and Margaret Grim Hedland who resides in Pulaski.He was a 1983 graduate of Neshannock High School where he was active in football and baseball.Bill was employed most recently with Mijavec Feed and Supply and formerly at Tanner Precision Plating and Packard Electric.He was a member of the Knights of Pulaski and golfed in the Sylvan Heights Golf League. Among his many interests were hunting, fishing, archery and golf. He was an avid Steeler and Penguin's fan. He also enjoyed cooking and was a master of the grill.Bill was a devoted father, beloved son and loving brother and uncle. His generous spirit formed an extended family of friends as well.In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Scott Alan Hedland and William C. Hedland, III, both of Mt. Jackson; one step-son, Terry Griffith, Jr. of New Castle; one step-daughter, Amanda Jeanne Griffith of New Castle; one brother, Jeffrey S. Hedland of Pulaski; one sister, Dawn Porter of Pittsburgh; a niece; two nephews; and two step-grandsons.He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Russ and Nettie Hedland; maternal grandparents, Evelyn and Charles Grim; one aunt, Parlee King; and one uncle, Charles Grim.Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County, who offered such great care to William, at 1211 Wilmington Avenue, New Castle, PA 16105.
