William C. Jones, 71, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of August 31, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born March 18, 1946 in New Castle, he was the son of Clarence Buck Jones and Freda Sager Reno Jones Barkley, and step-son of Russell Barkley, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Kathryn Streit Jones whom he married July 29, 1965. Mr. Jones was a machine operator with AK Steel Corp and Wheatland Tube. An avid hunter and fisherman, he especially enjoyed the hunting and fishing trips he took with his children and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Penny Jones Burris of Washington and Sheri Jones of New Castle; two sons, William J. Jones of Harrisburg and Todd M. Jones of Franklin, Pa; one brother, Melvin Reno of New Castle; seven sisters, Betty Preisel and Joanne Steedley of Georgia, Shirley Hodge of Ohio, and Darlene Duncan, Patricia Floyd, Doris Fray and Susan Dickey all of New Castle; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, two sisters, Cora and Janet, and two brothers, Walter and Robert. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
