William D. Jones, Sr., 80, of 2102 Fairview School Road, Ellwood City, passed away the morning of August 31, 2012 at his residence.Born December 29, 1931, in New Castle, he was a son of Robert E. Jones, Sr. and Myrtle Shaffer Jones.He married Josephine C. DeGruttola on May 2, 1953.Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the First Infantry Battalion where he was stationed at the Berlin Wall in Germany.He was employed as a skilled pipe fitter with General Motors for 30 years. Prior, he worked for General Electric for 2 years and the American Cyanamid Company for 10 years. Upon his retirement, he raised beef cattle and ballplayers.Bill loved fast Fords and the Yankees. He also enjoyed hunting and farming.He was a member of Center Presbyterian Church.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Shelley Mae and Ken Hudson of Ellwood City, and Sandra Ann and Samuel Snyder of New Castle; two sons and their wives, Robert E. (Bob) and Sherry Jones, and William D. (Bill) and Cynthia Jones, Jr. all of New Castle; one brother, Earl Jones of New Castle; and seven grandchildren, Kenny Hudson, Kylie (Jonathon) Hall, Cole Snyder, Billy Jones, Brandon Jones, Bobby (Jaime) Jones and Dylan Jones.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Junior Jones and Kenneth Jones; and one sister, Eleanor Miller.Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2012, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Monday, September 3, 2012, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will be held Monday, September 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev.
