Obituary

William E. McDonald "Earl", age 90, of New Castle, passed away May 1, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born June 16, 1935, in Nantahala, North Carolina, he was the son of Wade and May (Parker) McDonald. He was preceded in death on May 13, 1999, by his wife of 19 years, Thelma R. (Mills) McDonald, whom he married June 17, 1979.

Mr. McDonald served his country in the US Army and Air Force during the Korean War. He was the complex manager for California Real Estate Investment and later, the hall manager for the VFW in Santa Clara, California until his retirement. During his retirement he worked for Wal-Mart as a bike builder.

He held lifetime memberships with both the Santa Clara VFW #3982 where he served as commander and the National Home through VFW and was a member of the American Legion Santa Clara #642.

He enjoyed bowling and was a member of St. Vitus church. Earl was also very proud of his Native American Heritage.

Earl had one son, Earl Ray McDonald and one daughter, Shawnee Miller; two brothers, Ed McDonald and Ron Matthews; two sisters, Vivian Smith and Betty Wagner; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by stepsons, L.B. Polansky, Michael Polansky and Stepdaughter Linda L. Dean.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services.
