Obituary

William J. Meiter, 85, of New Castle, went home to be with his Lord December 27, 2014. Born June 1, 1929, he was a son of Martin and Mary Revay Meiter. Surviving at home is his wife of 59 years, Velma Bonzo Meiter. William was a sergeant in the United States Air Force who served in Korea and Alaska as a bush pilot. Bill was the owner of the former Bob and Bill's Ziebart Rustproofing of New Castle. He was a member of First Assembly of God and also attended Kathryn Kuhlman ministries for many years, serving as an usher and singing in the men's choir. William enjoyed flying and cherished time spent with family and friends. In addition to his wife Velma, he is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Guy Frank) Walker of Austintown, Ohio and Alene (Oliver) Zammit of San Diego, Ca; one son, Lester (Laura) Meiter of New Castle; two brothers, Edward Meiter and Robert Meiter of Beaver Falls; one sister, Mary Ann Nerti of New Castle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Milchak and Norma Jean Ford; and a grandson, Joshua Walker. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 2021 Pulaski Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Chad Stoecker officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
