Willis L. (Woody) Slater, 91, of Neshannock Township passed away on November 29, 2017.
Born on February 25, 1926, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Lyle and Myrtle Slater. He is survived at home by his wife of 69 years, Tennie Jane Slater.
Mr. Slater was a graduated from New Castle High School in June of 1944. After graduation, he served under General Patton's 3rd Army in the field of Artillery.
Woody was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was owner and operator of Slater's Alignment for 40 years. Mr. Slater was very successful in his business for the simple reason, he loved what he was doing. Woody also had a passion for cars.
In addition to his wife, Woody is survived by his children, Dr. Craig (Charlene) Slater, Timothy Slater, Carole (Frank) Sheen, Thomas (Connie) Slater, Ryne (Janie) Slater, and Patti (John) Nickum. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Woody is preceded in death by his brother, Fred and Kenny Slater.
A private memorial service will be held at the family's convenience at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
