Yvette M. Foster, 97, of New Castle, passed away the evening of October 18, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born March 3, 1921 in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of Russell S. and Suzanne (LaPeyre) Mitchell.
She was preceded in death on January 3, 1995 by her husband of 52 years, James B. Foster, Jr. whom she married July 13, 1942.
After her graduation from Grove City High School, she attended Grove City College, graduating in 1941.
Yvette was employed as a lab technician for St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was a member of the Jameson Hospital Junior Guild, the New Castle Country Club and the Eintracht Singing Society. Among her many interests she liked bird watching, reading, travel and watching sports. Yvette loved the companionship of her dogs and enjoyed the time spent with her family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara F. (James) Huff of Hollidaysburg, Pa. and Suzanne L. (Vincent) Maltese of Tinton Falls, NJ; two sons, James B. Foster, III and David R. (Nancy Smith) Foster all of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Stacey, Tina, Adam, Jennifer, James, Matthew, Benjamin and Meghan; and eight great-grandchildren, Blake, Ryan, Abigail, Andrew, Max, Scott, Juliana and Cecil.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, William M. and Russell C. Foster; one daughter, Sherry Anne Foster; and one sister, Jacqueline Amanda Sucher.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Marsha Parrish officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
